ABSTRACT
Electron-cyclotron heating rates have been measured for plasmas in a toroidal
octupole magnetic field over a wide range of magnetic field strength, electric
field strength, plasma density, and neutral density. The results agree
with single-particle heating theories at low densities but show a decreased
heating rate as the density increases.
